Decorative 3D printed objects made from materials intended for design/display purposes. PLA material – not resistant to excessive wear; the material allows varied colours and can deform quickly.

A lithophane is a work of art carved or moulded in a thin, translucent material (such as porcelain or plastic). In natural light it looks like a textured white plate. When lit from behind, the material reveals a detailed image with shadows and highlights.

How does it work?

The play of light: the image is not painted – it relies only on the thickness of the material.
Thin areas let light through easily and become the bright parts of the image.
Thick areas block the light and create the shadows and dark details.
